Bill Kirchen

Long deemed the Ambassador of Twang, and with Grammy nominations and such well-known hits as Hot Rod Lincoln to his credit, Bill has discovered the unique tonal qualities of Talos Amplifiers. Bill regularly plays Talos instruments on the road with his band Too Much Fun. To hear some of Bill's music, and his latest album Dieselbilly Road Trip, check out www.billkirchen.com

To understand my affinity for Talos Amplifiers,
you first need to understand Doug Weisbrod,
Bill Thalmann, and especially Music Technologies. Nestled deep within a Springfield industrial complex, Music Technologies resembles less a repair shop and more a James Bond experimental lab. One almost expects to see Q striding out from behind a corner with a new gadget for 007. This is the setting in which Talos was conceived. And just like a sophisticated new piece of equipment for Bond, the beauty lies within the simplicity. For me this is perfect because I cannot profess to be technologically aware of or capable of dialing in the sound

that I need. But I know superb tone when I hear it! This all occurs within the amp itself and is available with minimal knobs to turn and buttons to push. So Talos really provides it all. They give an artist the full bodied sound of a renowned custom shop with the sincerity of a small town operation. Thanks to Doug and Bill for the amazing amp and to everyone at Music Technologies

"The Talos Basic gives me a beautiful pallet of tone, from a very acoustic almost Django-type sound at a low volume with the tweeter on, to the traditional round Wes Montgomery round sound at medium volume, with the tweeter off, to a sound which I don't quite know how to describe: it's kind of like a jazz tone, but with just a little bit of sustain, and bite, I don't know for sure, but I think I've found the perfect modern jazz sound guitar sound: evocative of the jazz guitar tradition, but punchy enough to cut through the mix without all the added chorus/delay garbage."              Check out Ben Sher
